Here’s the Price of a Fully Loaded Harley-Davidson Street Bob

The Harley-Davidson Softail has been discontinued. The latest entry-level Softail model is now the Street Bob. True to its name, it features a bobber-style design typical of a cruiser motorcycle, aimed primarily at customization, minimizing unnecessary features. This medium-sized bike offers a reliable engine and a comfortable riding position, designed to be both agile and dependable. Over time, it has gained popularity among custom bike builders. This sparked an idea – let’s explore what enhancements can be added to the Street Bob from the OEM catalog and at what cost.

It’s important to note that we won’t be seeking high-end modifications such as a Screamin’ Eagle 135 ci Stage IV engine, since that upgrade isn’t offered – although we will consider a few Screamin’ Eagle parts. Our goal isn’t to create a bike that could feature in Sons Of Anarchy; we’re focusing on reasonable upgrades available from Harley-Davidson. Here’s what we found.

For accuracy, the data compiled in this article was sourced from various manufacturers and other reputable sources.

What Upgrades Are Available For The Harley-Davidson Street Bob?

Accessories Include Paint, Wheels, Seats, Among Others

The Street Bob is priced at $17,199 as its base cost, coming with alloy wheels and a gray paint scheme. Now, let’s get into the exciting options. The trim comes only in chrome, with no blacked-out variant. To upgrade from the gray paint, you’ll need to spend $350 for black, $525 for a shade Harley names ‘Centerline’ in bright yellow, and $650 for the most luxurious color options, Iron Horse Metallic and Purple Abyss Denim.

If you choose to upgrade the wheels to laced ones, it will cost an additional $800. Below, we’ve detailed the most notable upgrades to give you an overview of potential costs. Some options cannot be combined – for instance, three air cleaners are available, but only one fits. Among the accessories, the single-sided swingarm bag ($242.95) might seem unconventional for a Street Bob, yet it adds a unique touch. The available air cleaners include a wedge air cleaner ($974.90) and a round air cleaner ($724.90) for a more traditional aesthetic.

A Switchback seat with red stitching is available for $499.95, while a U-stitch option can be paired for $399.95. A Hollywood handlebar ($189.95) isn’t compatible with the quarter fairing but works with the detachable windshield ($489.95) and a tall sissy bar with passenger pillion ($312.90). If you prefer a one-stop solution, the Coastal Package (FXBB) costs $1,627.99, including the quarter fairing, switchback seat, hand grips, 80 Grit claw-style metal footpegs, and the necessary components to install turn signals.

Did We Mention The Street Bob Can Be Infinitely Customized?

The Street Bob is a unique motorcycle that appeals to a broad audience – its low seat height and friendly power delivery make it beginner-friendly, while providing enough excitement for seasoned riders. Harley has strategically designed it with a traditional frame, recognizing its potential as a customization canvas. In contrast, bikes like the Sportster S integrate the engine into the chassis, which aids in weight reduction but restricts modification options.

In the case of the Street Bob, customization is wide open, so we’ll examine the options available from the Screamin’ Eagle catalog as well. You can opt for either a Stage I or Stage II upgrade, both of which include a freer-flowing intake and exhaust alongside an ECU remap for Stage I. The Stage II option provides a choice of cams – either a ‘torque’ cam for improved low-end power or a ‘power’ cam to enhance high-end performance.

Unfortunately, a crate engine isn’t available; it’s best to stop the fantasies about that Screamin’ Eagle 135 ci right now. New Motorcycles Coming for MY2026

It’s clear that Team Red has built a formidable empire. From Ducati’s ongoing success on the MotoGP circuit to the passionate Ducati community that gathers at each World Ducati Week event, the brand continues to thrive.

While it’s not necessary, this latest update from Ducati’s financial report serves as further evidence of the company’s dominance.

Can you guess how much Ducati generated in the recent fiscal year?

Have your guesses ready? Drumroll, please… and we hope you said more than $900 million!

According to Motorcycle.com, Ducati has posted an impressive €1,003,000,000 (approximately $1,092,417,450 USD) in profit. This marks the third consecutive year that Ducati has achieved such numbers, following €1,065 billion in 2023 and €1,089 billion in 2022 (via CycleNews).

Naturally, Ducati’s CEO anticipated such results and expressed his satisfaction with the following remarks:

“2024 ends with a positive balance that, despite a challenging competitive environment, reaffirms our strength and sets a benchmark for profitability in the two-wheeler market. Our solid financial foundation allows us to invest significantly in research and development, innovation, and racing competitions while enhancing the uniqueness and prestige of our product range and maintaining the high-quality standards and service that define excellence.

This, combined with our commitment to making every Ducatista feel part of a great family, ensures that the brand enjoys greater popularity today.”

– Claudio Domenicali, CEO, Ducati (Motorcycle.com)

Additional details about Ducati’s 2024 fiscal year include:

  • Ducati’s operating result (EBIT) stood at €91 million euros (+9.1% profitability compared to 2023)
  • Ducati delivered 54,495 motorcycles in 2024 (-6.40% in sales compared to 2023)

If you’re puzzled by the decrease in sales, remember that Ducati has indicated a focus on a philosophy that “preserves the exclusivity and value of its products for its dedicated customers.” (via GP Paddock). With fewer motorcycles sold and increased profits, it seems their strategy is paying off.

Watch Out, Indian Motorcycles!

The latest price reduction from Harley-Davidson has sparked some excitement, and we thought it would be worth sharing.

For nearly 120 years, the rivalry between Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycles has been well-known, with both brands recognized for their muscular American bikes and dedicated communities.

This long-standing competition has been compared to the rivalry between Coca-Cola and Pepsi. Recently, The Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles endorsed this iconic rivalry by launching an exhibition titled “Harley vs. Indian: Clash of America’s Two-Wheeled Titans” (via Wheels Of Grace).

Currently, the competition between these two prominent American brands is primarily focused on price adjustments as each strives to capture the attention of riders this season, and Harley’s latest move may have given it the edge.

Based on reports from Top Speed, Harley has once again cut the price of its popular Nightster. Originally marked at $11,999, the price has been slashed to $10,499, and now stands at $9,999 – just $2,500 under the Nightster Special version of the same model.

Why is this price cut significant? It’s placed the Nightster at the same MSRP as Indian Motorcycles’ Scout Sixty Bobber, essentially offering American riders two cruisers for under $10,000 (or three if we include Honda’s $9,599 Rebel 1100).

What are your thoughts? Would you prefer Indian’s cruiser or Harley’s newly discounted Nightster?

KTM Partnership Continues Amidst Financial Turmoil

There’s something exhilarating about watching dreams of two-wheeled ingenuity manifest as registered patents, isn’t there? 🙂

Today, we acknowledge the impressive investigative work of Dennis Chung, who has uncovered approval documents from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for Brabus’ upcoming creation. We have been anxiously following the developments concerning Brabus’s future amidst KTM’s debt consolidation saga, and this news serves as a reassuring sign.

Now, let’s get back to those documents.

Chung’s report reveals plans for a formidable motorcycle featuring a 1400cc engine by leveraging KTM’s powerful 1390 platform. We had previously learned about a trio of models including the “Brabus 1400 R Rocket,” “Brabus 1400 R Tailor Made,” and “Brabus 1400 R Signature.” With these approval papers now on hand, it seems Brabus is poised to make significant strides.

This new 1400 R was included in the EPA’s latest updates on March 11. Given the brand’s 2024 tease featuring TRON-inspired elements (with hints of a spring 2025 reveal), we anticipate an exciting bike with unique features!

Electrification Enhances Yamaha’s Paint Line

While some may avoid the higher costs of going carbon-neutral, there are smaller actions that contribute to a cleaner future. Yamaha has chosen to electrify their painting process as one of those measures.

As highlighted in Yamaha’s recent announcement, the electrification of their painting process at the Iwata Main Factory began in February, introducing a fresh and innovative approach.

The new paint line, dubbed CN1, is officially the motorcycle industry’s first all-electric product painting line, driving Yamaha towards carbon neutrality.

Concerning the materials used in this newly electrified process, it should be noted that Yamaha is utilizing lower-temperature paints in collaboration with an unnamed paint manufacturer, and investments have been made in developing a smaller facility design along with advancements in insulation and air supply recycling technologies.

Yamaha claims that CN1 improves the production process as well, enhancing overall efficiency:

“…innovations in the painting process will also contribute to the creation of new product value and appeal, such as enabling colors and expressions not possible with conventional lines. The new line also contributes to a simpler preparation process that shortens manufacturing lead times, improves high-mix low-volume production capabilities, enables traceability for individual parts, provides a more comfortable working environment that makes line work easier, and more.”

– Yamaha, “Yamaha Motor Launches Motorcycle Industry’s First Carbon-Neutral Paint Line.” February 27, 2025 (Yamaha)

CN1 is merely a step in Yamaha’s quest for carbon neutrality; the company is diligently working toward their “Environmental Plan 2050” (via Yamaha), which is aimed at eliminating all emissions within their manufacturing sites in the next ten years and extending that goal to their supply chains within the following 25 years.

Hooray, Yamaha!

What exciting new colors do you expect Yamaha will introduce with the new painting process?

The Truth Behind Becca Taylor’s Death: How a Nevada Crash Claimed the South Dakota Democratic Chair’s Life

The Truth Behind Becca Taylor’s Death: How a Nevada Crash Claimed the South Dakota Democratic Chair’s Life
Becca Taylor, mourned by many Democrats, passed away in Utah, but her motorcycle was involved in an incident in Nevada. (File photo by Chris Stone/Times of San Diego)

Tanner Mark Boyer was driving his silver 2020 Hyundai Sonata southward on Interstate 15 in the border town of Mesquite, Nevada, last July when he collided with a black Harley Davidson low-rider motorcycle from behind.

Court record in Tanner Boyer case. (PDF)
Court record in Tanner Boyer case. (PDF)

Boyer dialed 911 when the Harley’s female rider was transported to St. George Regional Hospital, 40 miles away in Utah, where she was pronounced dead.

On Wednesday, after reviewing details of his case of vehicular manslaughter, I contacted Boyer to inquire if he was aware that the victim, Rebecca Lynn Taylor, served as chair of the San Diego County Democratic Party.

Boyer, 25, was unaware of this fact.

When asked about taking the life of a local political figure recognized as Becca, he responded,

“No matter what someone’s profession or interests may be, every life holds value,” he shared.

Eight months following the incident — and six weeks after Boyer was sentenced for his plea of no contest, receiving no jail time — the information regarding Taylor’s tragic accident has become public knowledge.

Ironically, information regarding the early morning crash on July 16 was released in a media statement on July 23 by the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol.

“The motorcycle rider, Rebecca Lynn Taylor, a 41-year-old woman from San Diego, California, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at a local area hospital,” the report stated.

Tanner Boyer's image on his Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Tanner Boyer’s image on his Facebook and Instagram accounts.

“The investigation is being carried out by the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol — Southern Command M.I.R.T (Multidisciplinary Investigation & Reconstruction Team).”

No local news outlet in Nevada recognized that this Taylor was a prominent leader among San Diego Democrats, and no San Diego news source was informed about the Nevada crash — even after being told it occurred somewhere in Utah as she returned home from a trip.

Typical of the Nevada reporting was this television report from 81 miles southwest of Mesquite:

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) — A 41-year-old woman has died following a motorcycle accident in Mesquite along Interstate 15.

Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 2:41 a.m. on southbound I-15 near mile marker 123, close to the Arizona-Nevada state line.

Authorities stated that a gray 2020 Hyundai Sonata was driving southbound on I-15 behind a black Harley Davidson low-rider motorcycle. The Hyundai’s driver failed to decelerate and collided with the Harley from behind, causing the rider to be ejected and the motorcycle to leave the roadway.

The motorcycle came to a stop in the center median while the Hyundai rotated and exited the roadway as well.

In an 8-minute conversation, Boyer insisted he was not driving distracted as court records suggest. He noted he was driving 5 miles over the 70 mph speed limit and, at 2:30 a.m., faced poor visibility. He affirmed he was not under the influence of alcohol.

However, as part of his sentencing, Boyer consented to create a YouTube video addressing the dangers of distracted driving.

“I haven’t made much progress on it yet,” he mentioned about the video, “but I have a lot of ideas in mind.”

Boyer, who works as an electrician in St. George, Utah, has already compensated $2,269 in restitution to Tim Cook, Taylor’s father. (Her parents are divorced.)

If Boyer completes the YouTube video prior to a status hearing in Mesquite Municipal Court on April 1, his community service requirement will be reduced from 200 hours to 100 hours, as stated in court documents.

Boyer has started his community service at a thrift store in St. George, a city with a population of 110,000.

“I’m assisting in the back — organizing items, tidying up the store,” he explained.

Boyer, a graduate of Dixie High School where he played tennis as a teenager, previously received two speeding tickets in 2016 (at age 17) and another in 2019. He was also cited in 2018 for failing to provide a child restraint for a child under the age of 8.

He had legal representation in the Mesquite case but opted not to go to trial after pleading no contest. His sentencing took place on February 4 before Judge Ryan Toone in Mesquite court.

San Diego County Democratic officials have not responded to requests for comment.

However, local Democratic activist Laurie Black stated via email: “I’m shocked that someone can collide with another person AND TAKE HER LIFE, yet face no significant consequences. Becca Taylor was a vibrant and influential public servant whose life was unjustly taken. She deserves far more than this. It’s unbelievable.”

The inaugural Bike Week took place in 1937 in Daytona Beach, Florida, and it was a far cry from the vibrant celebration seen today. At that time, the Daytona 200 motorcycle race was hosted on a 3.2-mile stretch of beach and roadway. Ed Kretz from California triumphed on his Indian motorcycle, with around 15,000 spectators in attendance. Currently, this renowned event draws nearly half a million attendees each year to honor their passion for motorcycle culture.

“There was always live music filling the air, and visitors arriving from around the globe,” she recalled.

She reminisced about one particular year during Bike Week when she unexpectedly encountered an old high school friend from San Diego.

Bike Week is renowned for its bustling Main Street, which transforms the small beach town with biker contests, parades, live performances, and street fairs.

“I adore how the small-town vibe of Daytona morphs into this spectacular event overnight,” Lowe expressed.

She shared unforgettable memories from past Bike Weeks, including the time she spotted Michael Jordan cruising on his light blue custom Harley.

Bike culture is deeply rooted in Daytona, with families from Volusia recounting their own Bike Week experiences. Cecelia Lewandowski, a Daytona State student, shares this connection: “My mom used to work as a beer tub girl, and my dad was a bartender for Bike Week, so we’re big Bike Week fans,” she stated.

This year, Bike Week attracted around 500,000 attendees, marking a remarkable surge that hasn’t been experienced in years. It was projected that Bike Week would contribute close to 100 million dollars to the Volusia County economy.

Celebrating its 84th year, this event has played a significant role in shaping the unique atmosphere of the Daytona Beach community.

The rim’s subtle red “CVO RR” logo is laser-etched on the wheels. With a new Screamin’ Eagle 131 V-Twin engine, this motorcycle promises peak torque and horsepower, all wrapped in a sleek aerodynamic design.

The CVO Road Glide RR also introduces a new premium audio system developed in partnership with Rockford Fosgate. Officially called “Harley-Davidson Audio powered by Rockford Fosgate Stage III,” it features a pair of three-way, 6.5-inch speakers delivering up to 250 watts. Additionally, the bike includes a 12.3-inch infotainment screen for seamless integration with Apple CarPlay as well as music apps via WiFi or Bluetooth. Plus, it comes equipped with a wireless headset to ensure you can enjoy your favorite tunes while riding.

Only 131 units of the Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide RR were produced, each carrying a retail price of $110,000. Although it’s unclear if Reeves purchased one for himself, potential buyers can find more information on the Harley website.

Harley-Davidson in a press release stated that this motorcycle model integrates remarkable performance with the meticulous custom details that define Harley-Davidson’s Custom Vehicle Operation (CVO) limited edition motorcycles.

“Drawing inspiration from the racetrack to the street, the Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide RR represents the pinnacle of performance,” said Jochen Zeitz, Chairman, CEO, and President. “With this exclusive motorcycle series, we’ve applied all track-derived insights to create the ultimate street-legal bagger performance.”

Excitement filled the streets of Green Point as the Cape Town Carnival celebrated its 15th edition this past weekend, enchanting both locals and tourists.

With the powerful roar of Harley Davidson motorcycles announcing the start of the parade, the Mother City was treated to an exhilarating showcase of creativity and culture, highlighting the best of its diverse community, Cape {town} Etc reports.

As thousands lined the Fan Walk, they were mesmerized by a dazzling array of performances from various participants, including City of Cape Town firefighters, DHL Stormers rugby players, accomplished local artists, and enthusiastic community groups from across the region.

This year’s celebration embraced the theme WowZA!, designed to reflect the bold and vibrant spirit that defines Cape Town and South Africa.

‘We are honored to offer a stage for Cape Town’s community artists, enabling them to share their talents with the thousands of Carnival-goers who breathe life into this event,’ remarked Jay Douwes, CEO of the Cape Town Carnival.

The carnival is a vibrant celebration of musicians, performers, and artisans who have tirelessly prepared throughout the year to ensure its success.

From belly dancers to brass bands, rollerbladers to traditional dancers, as well as dragons and drum majorettes, the parade had something for everyone. Behind the scenes, talented artisans dedicated countless hours to create fantastical floats that added color and excitement to the procession.

Enthralled fans cheered for the DHL Stormers as they paraded their bespoke ‘Taking the Cape by Storm’ float down Somerset Street, joyfully dancing to the beat of distinctly South African music.

Rachel Jafta, Chairperson of the Cape Town Carnival Trust, noted that the event has transformed into a distinctive South African feature of the city’s cultural calendar over its past 15 years.

‘The Cape Town Carnival is unique because it reflects the essence of South Africa through its music, dance, and breathtaking floats,’ she stated.

‘This year’s parade, themed around WowZA!, highlighted Cape Town’s iconic elements, and the happiness it generated was evident on every attendee’s face,’ Jafta emphasized.

A standout addition to this year’s festivities was Brazilian guest Erika Januza, famously known as the ‘Queen of the Drums’ from Rio Carnival, who infused the event with an international flavor.

The floats celebrated local pride while embracing a broader theme of creativity and community, highlighted by mesmerizing performances from renowned South African artists.

YoungstaCPT electrified the crowd atop his Gatsby float, while hip-hop sensation Bravo Le Roux made his debut, joined by Cape Town’s own shining star, Paxton Fielies.

JP Smith, MMC for Safety and Security and participant in the parade, emphasized the carnival’s vital role in promoting unity among the diverse populations of the city.

‘In addition to creating jobs and boosting the economy, and being one of the eight signature events in our city, the Cape Town Carnival primarily promotes social cohesion,’ he commented.

‘It serves as a reminder that Capetonians are united and that we have more commonalities than differences,’ Smith added.

Echoing this sentiment, Hennie Myburgh, station manager of Kfm 94.5, expressed pride in the long-standing partnership with the event.

‘It’s remarkable to witness Cape Town unite in celebration during this joyful evening. We are proud to be involved,’ he stated.

The price reductions impact three of Harley’s more budget-friendly models – the Nightster, the Sportster, and the Nightster Special.

Currently, the entry-level Nightster can be acquired for just $9,999, while the Sportster begins at $15,999, and the Nightster Special is listed at $12,499, as reported by Auto Evolution.

The base Nightster, previously priced at $10,499, boasts a 975cc Revolution Max V-Twin engine, delivering 91 horsepower and 97 Nm of torque.

At this competitive price, buyers also receive 14-spoke cast aluminum wheels, Brembo brakes, LED lighting, and a 27-inch seat height, which is perfect for riders seeking a nimble experience.

The Nightster Special features the same engine but includes premium enhancements like a 4-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth, ABS, selectable ride modes, and a passenger seat for added comfort.

At the top tier, the Sportster S comes with a 1,252cc Revolution Max 1250T engine that generates 121 horsepower and 127 Nm of torque.

This model is outfitted with high-performance Brembo brakes, fully adjustable suspension, and a low, aggressive stance designed for optimum power and handling.

While the bike may not exude luxury, its performance capabilities and sleek, blacked-out design make it a standout competitor.

The entry-level model, showcased in Billiard Gray, serves as the most affordable entry point into Harley’s sports bike range.

However, it’s important to note that the final costs for these models can be significantly higher than the base prices once optional upgrades are included.

Harley-Davidson’s 2025 Lineup: 7 New Bikes Unveiled

While the starting price appears attractive, potential riders should be aware that taxes, title, registration, and other fees will increase the overall expenditure.

This pricing strategy marks a new chapter for the Milwaukee-based manufacturer, merging affordability with high-performance motorcycles.

This new price approach is likely a tactical shift aimed at drawing in a wider range of riders, particularly in the competitive sportbike sector.

Despite the additional details, Harley’s decision to lower prices indicates a shift in their business strategy, possibly targeting younger, cost-conscious customers.

What are the new and refreshed Harley-Davidson motorcycles for 2025?

The lineup of completely new 2025 models features:

The brand’s Sportster S has also received updates.

A series of limited-edition Custom Vehicle Operation (CVO) motorcycles features four models: CVO Street Glide; CVO Road Glide; CVO Road Glide ST; and CVO Pan America.

The manufacturer announced that these new models complete the 2025 Harley-Davidson Grand American Touring, Cruiser, Sport, Adventure Touring, and Trike motorcycle collections.

The revised pricing strategy may help the brand attract new supporters, particularly in a market already saturated with Japanese and European motorcycles that are presenting competitive offerings at lower costs.
