The revamped Sportster S brings a surge of power along with a suspension enhancement that significantly improves ride comfort.

Years back, while negotiating for my first motorcycle, I took a test ride on a Harley-Davidson Sportster, initially hoping to prefer my 2014 Triumph Bonneville T-100. It was meant to be a whimsical choice.

Unexpectedly, I found myself enamored with its aggressive aesthetic, comfortable seat, and the deep roar of its engine.

However, my only reservation was that every bump jolted through my spine, exacerbating my existing lower back issues. Consequently, I opted for the T-100 without regrets.

A standout advancement that Harley proudly announces is almost unbelievable — they have increased the travel in the three-way adjustable rear shock by an astonishing 60%.

Fast forward to today, the latest model of the 2025 Sportster S has caught my eye, largely due to its renewed suspension that resolves my earlier concerns. Naturally, its other attributes are equally impressive.

Exciting Developments

Although I haven’t ridden a Sportster recently, I’m eager to give this one a try. Not only has my back improved considerably, but this motorcycle promises a much gentler experience.

The remarkable upgrade Harley promotes is certainly hard to swallow. They’ve managed a 60% increase in travel for the three-way adjustable rear shock.

In concrete terms, the suspension travel has been boosted from two inches to 3.2 inches, with minimal alteration to the seat height, which remains at 28.9 inches (when loaded) — rather remarkable for a sport bike.

This specific category of motorcycles usually boasts the highest seat heights after off-road bikes, which require elevated seats for maneuvering rough terrains, while sport bikes aim to maximize lean angles during corners.

That trait is essential for typical track riding but is less critical for daily use.

Interestingly, this seat height is lower than some cruisers, including the Royal Enfield Super Meteor, which measures 29.1 inches and is preferred by many shorter riders.

In essence, with a single meaningful modification, Harley has made one of its most budget-friendly and accessible motorcycles even more appealing to a broader audience, not just those with back problems.

Additional Highlights

As remarkable as the enhanced suspension is, there are several other enticing features that have me enthusiastic to take the new Sportster S for a spin.

Power Play

Equipped with the Revolution Max 1250T engine, the new Sportster S packs a powerful punch, sharing the same 1,252cc engine that powers larger models like the offroad-capable Pan America.

With a robust 502-pound frame, it offers an impressive 121 horsepower and 93 ft-lb of torque.

This means a swift response that can navigate city traffic and tackle twisting roads with undeniable excitement.

Eye-Catching Design

I’ve always appreciated the Sportster’s silhouette, but this new iteration elevates the design with the engine’s attractive aesthetic, merging gloss and matte finishes for a striking blacked-out appearance.

Additionally, there’s an attractive premium paint option available, such as the Mystic Shift, which transitions from dark gunmetal to a vibrant orange when light interacts with it.

The unique design includes exhaust pipes elegantly tucked beneath the seat, further enhancing its distinctive aesthetic.

Clever Technology

While I prefer my motorcycles to lean toward the analog side to avoid getting complacent, Harley has exercised restraint with the tech on this model, much like they did with the Low Rider ST from a couple of years back.

Nestled between the handlebars is a classic-looking, four-inch full-color TFT display which facilitates navigation, ride mode adjustments, tire pressure monitoring, and more.

Additionally, it comes equipped with a practical cruise control option — a staple for comfortable long-distance rides.

Availability and Cost

The 2025 Sportster S is now available for purchase at authorized Harley-Davidson dealerships globally, with a base price of $15,999. Options such as the Mystic Shift paint scheme will increase that cost.

With a Simple Adjustment, Harley Has Resolved the Major Issue with Its Most User-Friendly Motorcycle

Surprising Update

Although I haven’t ridden a Sportster in a while, I’m eager to take this one for a spin. My back issue has significantly improved, and this bike seems to be much more accommodating for it.

One of the major enhancements that Harley is promoting may sound unbelievable. The company has successfully increased the travel of the three-way adjustable rear shock by an astonishing 60 percent.

With a Simple Adjustment, Harley Has Resolved the Major Issue with Its Most User-Friendly Motorcycle
The enhanced rear suspension is expected to provide a much smoother ride.
Harley-Davidson

In numerical terms, the travel has risen from two inches to 3.2 inches, without a notable difference in seat height. The seat height measures at 28.9 inches (when laden), which is quite remarkable for a sport bike.

This specific category usually has the second highest seat heights, trailing only behind off-road bikes. The latter requires taller seats for better ground clearance to handle uneven surfaces, while the sport bikes aim to maximize lean angles in turns.

This feature becomes increasingly crucial on the track. For casual riders, however, it’s not as significant.

NY Judge Reduces Damages by $209 Million in Harley-Davidson Fatality Lawsuit

In August, a jury in Geneseo delivered a stunning blow to Harley-Davidson by awarding nearly $288 million in damages after determining that a defective motorcycle led to an accident that resulted in the death of a woman and severe injuries to her partner.

A jury in Livingston County found Harley-Davidson liable for the death of Pamela SinClair and the injuries sustained by Harold Morris, awarding a total of $287 million in damages to them.

Recently, however, the awarded sum was drastically reduced—by over $209 million—by the State Supreme Court judge who oversaw the trial.

Justice Craig J. Doran declined Harley’s request to dismiss the entire verdict but acknowledged in a decision shared with The Buffalo News that the jury’s damages were excessively high.

Evidence presented during the trial indicated that Harley “understood there was a defect” linked to a June 2020 incident that resulted in the death of Pamela SinClair from Batavia and the severe injury of her partner, Howard Morris, as ruled by Doran.

The judge stated that Morris and the SinClair family are still entitled to receive a total of $79 million. However, until all appeals are resolved— which may take months or years—plaintiffs will not receive any funds, as per their attorneys.

Harold Morris, left, and his attorney, Paul Edelstein, during a news conference in Geneseo, on Aug. 13, 2024, following the jury’s decision to order Harley-Davidson to compensate Morris and SinClair’s estate $287 million due to a June 6, 2020, incident involving Morris’s Harley-Davidson three-wheeler that claimed SinClair’s life.

At the time of the crash, Morris, aged 79, was operating a three-wheeler Harley, with 62-year-old SinClair as his passenger when the vehicle went off the road and crashed in Hamlin Township, PA, approximately 35 miles southeast of Olean.

“The trial evidence confirmed that Harley-Davidson marketed a product with error codes, aware of a defect related to the rear wheel speed sensor that caused an unexpected change in direction and was cognizant of a traction control problem…yet failed to withdraw the product from the market,” Doran noted.

However, the judge sided with Harley’s defense lawyers who argued that the financial awards from the jury—including $240 million in punitive damages—were unjustified and overly punitive.

The jurors initially granted $120 million each in punitive damages to Morris and SinClair’s family. Doran later reduced these amounts to $40 million for Morris and $24 million for SinClair’s family.

Jurors also allotted $36 million to Morris for pain, suffering, and medical costs; the judge cut this figure to $10 million.

Similarly, the SinClair family was granted $12 million for their pain and suffering, which the judge reduced to $4.85 million.

Harley’s corporate spokesman in Milwaukee and attorney Mark A. Kircher, who led the company’s legal representation during the trial, did not respond to inquiries made by The News.

The motorcycle manufacturer has submitted an appeal notice to the court.

“All I can tell you is that Harley-Davidson respectfully disagrees with the verdict and intends to appeal,” Kircher stated to The News in August.

Throughout the trial, Harley’s defense claims denied that any vehicle defects played a role in the accident, instead questioning Morris’s driving skills.

Morris expressed his “frustration and disappointment” regarding the judge’s decision to reduce the jury’s financial awards, according to his attorney, Paul J. Edelstein.

“Howard is extremely frustrated with the laws in New York state. The judge followed the state law’s standards,” Edelstein shared. “Harley has initiated an appeal, making the timeline uncertain, and hopefully it won’t take years. The lawyers at Harley know my client is elderly, making time a crucial factor against him in this case.”

There remains the possibility of a settlement between Harley and the plaintiffs, which would negate the need for extended legal disputes, Edelstein added.

Daniel A. Thomas, representing the SinClair estate, conveyed understanding of the judge’s rationale in adjusting the awards.

“But I also feel that the trial was equitable, and the jury’s decision should stand without being altered,” Thomas mentioned to The News.

Despite the more than $200 million reduction, “I still believe this is a substantial amount that conveys a strong message to Harley-Davidson,” Thomas remarked.

It is common for judges to revise the damages awarded by juries when they have determined the amounts were excessively high.

A recent case involved acting State Supreme Court Justice Mark J. Grisanti who lowered a jury’s $100 million verdict for the family of Richard Metcalf Jr., an inmate who died in 2012 in the Erie County Holding Center, down to $20 million after defense arguments highlighted the initial amount as “excessive.”

Founded in Milwaukee in 1903, Harley-Davidson is one of the most recognized motorcycle brands worldwide, and they vigorously defended their reputation during the trial.

Morris is a former president of the Harley Owners Group, commonly referred to as HOGS, in Batavia. He indicated his passion for riding Harleys for many years, frequently traveling with SinClair across the United States. They both resided in the Town of Caledonia, around 17 miles east of Batavia.

“We were aware of the challenges ahead. People have enormous faith and trust in this brand, to the extent that some even tattoo the Harley-Davidson logo on their bodies,” Thomas said.

Harold Morris and his girlfriend Pamela SinClair

Harold Morris and his girlfriend Pamela SinClair in an undated family photograph. Morris suffered severe injuries while SinClair tragically lost her life during a June 6, 2020, accident involving Morris’s Harley-Davidson three-wheeler motorcycle. A jury in Geneseo awarded significant damages in a product liability trial.

Records indicate that both Morris and SinClair encountered two separate injury incidents while riding Harley three-wheelers. They sustained injuries in 2019 when one of their cycle’s rear wheels abruptly engaged the brakes, causing the vehicle to spin and crash into a wooded area in Florida, as detailed in court documents.

“We were riding on a straight, clear highway when the bike unexpectedly veered left. We left the road, and the Harley flipped over, throwing us off,” Morris recounted to The News. “Pam sustained a broken hand and ankle.”

Shortly after the Florida accident, Morris received a recall notice from Harley regarding the traction control software for the three-wheeler, according to the attorneys representing Morris and the SinClair estate.

“The recall was initiated after numerous complaints from Harley customers nationwide concerning similar issues with their trikes’ software. Mr. Morris took the vehicle in for servicing and was assured by Harley that it was safe to ride. Just months later, the fatal accident transpired,” the plaintiffs’ attorneys stated.

During the trial, Morris testified that he could not recall any details regarding the accident that led to SinClair’s death in June 2020. His memories only returned after 10 weeks of medical and rehabilitation treatment.

“I was in a rehabilitation facility when they informed me of Pam’s death,” Morris told The News in August. “I was in shock.”

Throughout the trial, Harley’s legal team raised several questions about Morris’s motorcycle driving skills. Kircher pointed out that while Morris was an experienced two-wheeled motorcycle rider, he was “relatively new” to operating three-wheelers when the two incidents occurred.

Controlling a three-wheeled Harley differs significantly from a two-wheeler, Kircher explained to the jury.

“Rider error is the leading cause of single-vehicle motorcycle accidents,” Kircher told jurors.

“For over four years, Harley-Davidson has insisted that both accidents were solely Harold’s fault, which we knew not to be accurate,” Edelstein stated post-trial.

Jurors concluded that Harley-Davidson was responsible for SinClair’s death and Morris’s injuries. Edelstein and Thomas expressed confidence that the nearly $288 million award ranks among the largest ever given in a product liability case in Western New York.

“One of the primary factors in my decision to purchase the three-wheeler was its advertising as a safer and more stable mode of travel,” Morris said after the jury’s decision.

Thomas mentioned that the SinClair estate is represented by a daughter and grandchild of Pamela SinClair.

As they await further case developments, potentially spanning months or years, the SinClair family and Morris find a silver lining. Thomas noted, “Once the judge finalized the awards on January 10, the judgments started accruing interest at nearly $20,000 per day, with compounding each day, including weekends and holidays, until the litigation concludes.”

The Must-Have Used Harley-Davidson Cruiser That’s Just 5 Years Old

The Fat Boy has established itself as a cornerstone of the Harley-Davidson range, commemorating its 30th anniversary back in 2020. This model’s enduring appeal is evident, as it has outlasted many other models. Since its last update in 2018, the Fat Boy has remained largely unchanged, with only an occasional new color introduced, as Harley recognized there was no need to alter a successful formula.

Nowadays, the Fat Boy holds an iconic status in both pop culture and the motorcycle industry, symbolizing Americana. Such stature commands a premium price, and if you’re considering a 2024 model, you should be prepared to part with over $22k, despite the fact that it hasn’t undergone significant changes in six years. Opting for a model that is about five years old seems like a wise decision.

All information presented here is directly sourced from Harley-Davidson. The opinions expressed are our own. Purchasing a used motorcycle does carry associated risks, so it’s essential to conduct thorough research and exercise caution.

Harley-Davidson Fat Boy: Overrated Or Underrated

Over the years the Fat Boy has garnered a dedicated fan base, yet some argue it may be overrated.

The 2020 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy 114 Maintains Its Value

Price Range: $16,000 – $20,000

As with most Harley-Davidsons, the Fat Boy retains its value exceptionally well. In 2020, the initial purchase price was around $20,599, translating to slightly over $21,000 once on the road. Presently, its resale value stands at approximately $20,000, resulting in just $1k depreciation over five years. The trade-in value is currently at $15,600, however, due to an oversupply issue dealers are facing, actual trade values may be lower. If you’re in the market for one, this oversupply presents a favorable opportunity to find great deals.

  • Trade Value: $15,600
  • Poor Condition: $16,000
  • Good Condition: $19,000
  • Great Condition: $20,000

The 2020 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy 114 Got A Special Edition

In mid-2020, Harley-Davidson introduced the 30th anniversary edition of the Fat Boy. This specific version primarily featured a unique styling package and was limited to just 2,500 units. It boasted a striking black-on-black color scheme and revived the vintage tank logo designed by Willie G. Davidson, complete with a prominent ’30’ to signify its anniversary.

5 Reasons Why The Harley Davidson Fat Boy Is Awesome (And, 5 Reasons Why It Isn’t)

The Fat Boy stands as Harley-Davidson’s flagship model, but does it have any downsides?

Additionally, to confirm that it is a limited-edition model, each bike was fitted with a plaque displaying its serial number. While the anniversary edition might not significantly alter its value, being aware of it is essential, and it’s definitely worth considering purchasing if a good deal arises. This special edition commands a retail price of $21,000, reflecting a depreciation pattern similar to the standard model as it originally sold for $22k.

2020 Fat Boy 30th Anniversary Model Features

  • Vivid Black with bronze enhancements
  • Production limited to 2,500 units
  • Reshaped headlight nacelle

The 2020 Fat Boy 114 Produced 94 Horsepower

The Fat Boy’s muscular design has always been a defining characteristic, although previous engine models from the 90s to early 2000s often fell short in power. The 2024 Fat Boy retains the 94 horsepower from its Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine, which has seen minimal changes since its debut in 2018. This powerhouse engine provides a much-needed “bite” to a motorcycle that has long been recognized for its “bark.” The forthcoming 2025 model is set to feature the 117 engine for even more performance, though an additional $600 will be added to the price tag.

Furthermore, the chassis was completely redesigned in 2018, leading to a significant improvement in handling. Previous iterations of the Fat Boy were less maneuverable, yet the latest model promises predictability and stability, with a suspension setup that can handle a variety of conditions. While cruisers like the Fat Boy typically have limited lean angles, if sharp cornering is a priority, you may want to consider different options.

The Fat Boy Encountered Strong Competition from Other Brands

By 2020, Harley-Davidson had established a strong presence in the premium cruiser market, but there were several noteworthy alternatives. While there are numerous options in this price range, only two direct competitors surfaced.

2021 BMW R 18

Although technically a 2020 model, the R 18 debuted in 2021 as a premium cruiser powered by a large air-cooled boxer-twin engine. Unfortunately, it received mixed reviews despite its standout design and comparable power output, as it carried a hefty weight of 790 pounds, making it heavier than the Fat Boy. Additionally, its reliability often fell short, resulting in a current resale value about half of what it should be.

The 2020 version of the Chief features a design that may resonate with some while others may prefer a different aesthetic. Regardless of design choices, it provides a similar air-cooled V-twin engine alongside a range of modern features, albeit weighing more than the Harley. Despite having only these two premium alternatives, the investment here could also permit you to obtain a truly formidable muscle cruiser, which is certainly worthy of consideration. Nevertheless, for those focusing on style, few can rival the classic Fat Boy.

Fan cautions Harley-Davidson that it could go out of business soon without necessary changes

HARLEY-Davidson has been cautioned that it could lose business if significant alterations are not made following the unveiling of its 2025 lineup.

Despite this, the legendary company insists that it produces the “best damn motorcycles in the world.”

On Friday, Harley-Davidson finally revealed its 2025 motorcycles.

However, the response from motorbike enthusiasts has been mixed.

A significant concern highlighted is the pricing of the newly introduced and refreshed motorcycles this year.

A frustrated individual voiced on social media: “There’s no reason prices can’t be lowered.

“All the other manufacturers are managing it; why not Harley?

“Sales figures are significantly down [while] Indian’s sales are increasing.

“If this trend continues, Harley may find itself out of business as average middle-class consumers will find them unaffordable.”

Another rider remarked there was “no way” he would purchase a new Harley this year.

He added that it would be “more sensible to buy older models for ten grand less.”

Harley-Davidson dealership shutting after just 5 years for very different use – customers know what to blame for closure

Additionally, there was some pushback following Harley‘s promotion of its 2025 Road Glide on social networks.

The company claimed the model features a “powerful Milwaukee-eight 117 V-twin engine, supple adjustable suspension, and sharknose fairing engineered to slice through the wind.”

The 2025 Road Glide is advertised with a starting price of $27,999.

But one user cautioned: “Well Harley, you’re headed for trouble.

“The only factory touring bike is a street glide with a trunk and two speakers priced at $31k. You seem to have forgotten your customers.”

Yahoo! Finance reported on Tuesday that Morgan Stanley raised concerns about the company facing “long-standing affordability challenges.”

What are the new and refreshed Harley-Davidson motorcycles for 2025?

The 2025 model lineup features:

The Street Glide Ultra for extended touring and the Pan America 1250 ST adventure sport motorcycle.

Harley-Davidson has also refreshed six classic Cruiser models for 2025: Low Rider S; Low Rider ST; Breakout; Heritage Classic; Fat Boy; and Street Bob.

The brand’s Sportster S has received updates as well.

A range of limited-production Custom Vehicle Operation (CVO) motorcycles are included in the collection, featuring four models: CVO Street Glide; CVO Road Glide; CVO Road Glide ST; and CVO Pan America.

The motorcycle maker emphasized that these new models round out the collection of 2025 Harley-Davidson Grand American Touring, Cruiser, Sport, Adventure Touring, and Trike motorcycles.

Morgan Stanley’s analysts indicated that “weak consumer confidence might hinder demand recovery.”

This insight follows the closure of several Harley-Davidson dealerships throughout 2024 for various reasons.

TOUGH STANCE

But the company stated on Friday after the launch of its new models: “For over 120 years, we’ve crafted the best damn motorcycles in the world.

“We’ve persevered through wars, economic downturns, and many trying times.”

The all-new 2025 model range includes the Street Glide Ultra designed for long-distance touring, perfect for riders seeking exploration and adventure.

Harley-Davidson has also rejuvenated six classic Cruiser models for 2025: Low Rider S; Low Rider ST; Breakout; Heritage Classic; Fat Boy; and Street Bob.

ARNIE’S BIKE

Its iconic Fat Boy was famously portrayed as the motorbike of choice by toughman Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

Harley’s Sportster S has also received enhancements with an upgraded suspension system to ensure a more comfortable ride.

Harley-Davidson claimed regarding the Sportster S that riders will enjoy “unleashing on-demand torque for an electrifying rush of acceleration and excitement.

“Its lightweight build, technology features, and striking design cater to both experienced and new riders eager to stand out on a motorcycle that deviates from traditional aesthetics.”

Additionally, there is a collection of limited production Custom Vehicle Operation (CVO) models, offering both luxury and performance.

The CVO collection’s 26th annual lineup features four super-premium motorcycles: CVO Street Glide; CVO Road Glide; CVO Road Glide ST; and CVO Pan America.

Harley-Davidson closures in 2024

There are over 650 Harley-Davidson dealerships across America.

However, several stores shut down for various reasons throughout 2024, not always providing a clear explanation.

Here’s a summary of some Harley-Davidson locations that closed last year and their reasons:

The San Francisco location closed in June after operating for 110 years due to ‘chaos’ caused by new management.

Miracle City Harley-Davidson in Titusville, Florida, closed in September without offering a reason for closure.

Harley-Davidson’s historic location in New York City closed on September 28, citing economic issues.

Reiman’s Harley-Davidson dealership in Kewanee, Illinois, ceased operations in October after the owners sold the business to the Walter Brothers Harley Davidson dealership in Peoria, Illinois.

Furthermore, the dealership in West Bend, Wisconsin, temporarily closed for the season from November 2 until April 1, 2025.

Atlanta Harley-Davidson enthusiastically stated on social media: “Unleash the throttle on new models featuring completely new factory custom paint schemes, redesigned and re-tuned suspensions, larger engines, technology upgrades, heated handgrips, and much more.”

On Friday, Harley-Davidson finally presented its latest bikes for 2025 .

However, the response from motorcycle enthusiasts has been mixed.

A primary concern centers around the pricing of the new and updated bikes available this year.

One individual expressed frustration on social media : “There’s no reason the prices shouldn’t decrease.

“Other companies are doing it, so why not Harley?

“Sales are plummeting [while] Indian sales are climbing.

“If this trend continues, Harley may be out of business as regular middle-class consumers won’t be able to afford them.”

Another motorcycle enthusiast stated there was “no chance” he would purchase a new Harley this year.

He noted it would be “more sensible to buy the older models for ten grand less.”

There was also criticism directed at Harley for its promotion of the 2025 Road Glide on social media.

The company claimed that this model features a “powerful Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-twin engine, smooth adjustable suspension, and a sleek sharknose fairing designed to slice through the wind.”

The 2025 Road Glide carries a starting price of $27,999.

However, one critic warned: “Well Harley, you’re finally headed towards extinction.

“The only factory touring bike is a street glide with a trunk and two speakers for $31k. You’ve clearly decided your customers don’t matter.”

Yahoo! Finance reported on Tuesday that Morgan Stanley emphasized the firm is facing “prolonged affordability challenges.”

The freshly introduced 2025 models feature:

The Street Glide Ultra tailored for long-distance touring and the Pan America 1250 ST , a dynamic adventure sport motorcycle.

Additionally, Harley-Davidson has updated six classic Cruiser models for 2025: the Low Rider S; Low Rider ST; Breakout; Heritage Classic; Fat Boy; and Street Bob.

The brand’s Sportster S has also seen enhancements.

A selection of limited-production Custom Vehicle Operation (CVO) motorcycles consists of four models: CVO Street Glide; CVO Road Glide; CVO Road Glide ST; and CVO Pan America.

The company noted that these new models complete the 2025 lineup of Harley-Davidson’s Grand American Touring, Cruiser, Sport, Adventure Touring, and Trike motorcycles.

Analysts at Morgan Stanley also mentioned that “weakened consumer confidence may hinder demand recovery.”

This comes on the heels of several Harley-Davidson dealerships having closed for various reasons throughout 2024.

TOUGH STANCE

Nonetheless, the company stated on Friday, after presenting its new lineup: “For over 120 years, we’ve been producing the best damn motorcycles in the world.

“We’ve successfully navigated through wars, recessions, and numerous challenges.”

The fresh 2025 models include: the Street Glide Ultra for long-distance touring and the Pan America 1250 ST adventure sport motorcycle.

The company described the new Street Glide Ultra model as optimal for long-distance touring for riders seeking freedom and adventure.

Harley-Davidson has also updated six legendary Cruiser models for 2025: the Low Rider S; Low Rider ST; Breakout; Heritage Classic; Fat Boy; and Street Bob.

ARNIE’S BIKE

Its legendary Fat Boy gained fame as the favorite motorcycle of tough guy Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2 : Judgment Day.

The Sportster S has also been enhanced with an upgraded suspension system for a smoother and more comfortable ride.

Harley-Davidson stated that riders will enjoy “on-demand torque for an electrifying surge of acceleration and excitement.

“Its lightweight design, technological features, and striking style will entice experienced riders, newcomers, and those eager to stand out on a motorcycle that breaks from conventional styling norms.”

Furthermore, there is a limited collection of Custom Vehicle Operation (CVO) models, providing opulence and performance.

The 26th annual CVO collection features four ultra-premium motorcycles: CVO Street Glide; CVO Road Glide; CVO Road Glide ST; and CVO Pan America.

Harley-Davidson closures in 2024

There are over 650 Harley-Davidson dealerships in the United States.

However, multiple locations shut down for various reasons throughout 2024 – some providing no explanation whatsoever.

Below is a list of some Harley-Davidson outlets that closed in the previous year and their reasons for closing:

The San Francisco shop closed in June after 110 years due to ‘chaos’ caused by new management .

Miracle City Harley-Davidson in Titusville, Florida, shut down in September with no reason specified .

The legacy Harley-Davidson location in New York City closed on September 28, with the owner mentioning economic issues .

Reiman’s Harley-Davidson dealership in Kewanee, Illinois, ceased operations in October after the owners sold the business to the Walter Brothers Harley Davidson dealership in Peoria, Illinois.

Additionally, the dealership in West Bend, Wisconsin, temporarily closed for the winter season from November 2 until April 1, 2025.

Atlanta Harley-Davidson celebrated on social media: “Rev up for new models, featuring all-new factory custom paint schemes, redesigned and re-tuned suspensions, larger engines, tech enhancements, heated handgrips, and much more.”

Could This Impressive Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Secretly Be Your New Everyday Ride?

Harley’s largest motorcycle manufacturer recently unveiled its 2025 bike lineup, unveiling a high-octane array including six newly updated Cruisers, the latest Street Glide Ultra, new Sportster S and four new CVOs.

However, the release I’m most thrilled about is somewhat unconventional.

Indeed, this city dweller can’t seem to stop fantasizing about a bike that’s firmly planted in the “adventure sport” arena: the 2025 Pan America 1250 ST.

Considering all aspects, I envision this motorcycle as a fantastic daily ride, even for those who may not venture off-road.

Unexpected appeal

Frequently, products tailored for a specific purpose prove to be excellent for a different one, a common occurrence with vehicles designed for urban and suburban life yet evident in diverse settings.

The most prominent example is muscular four-wheel-drive SUVs, which predominantly remain on paved paths, though this also extends to two-wheeled vehicles. Take gravel bikes, for instance, which are excellent for traversing pothole-ridden or rain-slick city streets.

The liquid-cooled Revolution Max 1250 engine delivers 149 horsepower and 91ft-lbs of torque at its peak. This power is more than sufficient to escape a gridlock and make your way to the open road where only high speeds will quench your thirst.

Harley is well aware of this phenomenon, promoting the ST (short for sport touring) as “a practical daily ride, an exhilarating back-road performer, and a versatile weekend touring option.”

Indeed, this latest Pan America, which impressively retains its initial pricing from when I test rode the original four years past, features numerous enticing qualities for the less adventurous. Here are four stand-out attributes.

1. Ample power

Harley invested years into developing an engine tailored for adventure motorcycles, and this one is a powerhouse.

The liquid-cooled Revolution Max 1250 showcases a wide power band with 149 horsepower and 91ft-lbs of torque peaking. That provides more than enough energy to escape traffic and cruise to areas where only higher speeds satisfy the need.

Interestingly, this engine integrates into the ST chassis as a load-bearing component, a feature that reduces weight while enhancing rigidity, ultimately crafting a more responsive ride.

2. Aesthetically pleasing and comfortable

Newer and shorter riders often find adventure bikes intimidating due to their higher seat heights. However, they are essential for providing sufficient ground clearance needed to traverse uneven terrains.

That said, the ST’s seat is quite approachable by comparison. The contoured, streamlined design is 0.5 inches lower than that on the Pan America 1250 Special.

With adaptive ride height technology (suspension mechanism that automatically lowers the bike when stopped), the seat can drop as low as 31.7 inches, a full inch lower than the Special model.

3. Capable on multiple surfaces

While the more accessible seat height sacrifices some suspension capabilities compared to the Special model, you still get 6.75 inches of travel and 6.7 inches of ground clearance for off-road conditions.

Additionally, robust Brembo brakes, an intuitive Quickshifter, and a lower center of gravity ensure both safety and high-speed enjoyment on paved surfaces.

Should you decide to depart from the pavement, it’s advisable to replace the default Michelin Scorcher Sport tires with something more suited, like Michelin Scorcher Adventure tires.

4. Classic good looks

While personal taste in appearance is subjective, I have always found the Pan America to have a cooler, less technical appearance than average adventure (or sport, or touring) bikes, despite die-hard fans lamenting its non-traditional Harley design.

I recall attending the launch/test ride event in the Mojave Desert back in 2021, where Harley-Davidson’s designers clarified one significant design principle was “no beaks.” They have adhered to this guideline, with contours and color schemes improving each year.

I, for one, would love to admire the new ST from my window, primed to explore the city and beyond. How do you feel?

Pricing and availability

The 2025 Pan America 1250 ST is now available at authorized Harley-Davidson dealers worldwide. The base price for the motorcycle is $19,999, with additional options like the Vivid Black color increasing that amount.
