A man from Taylorsville lost his life in a motorcycle accident on N.C. 16 in Alexander County on the evening of Friday, March 28.
In a statement released to The Wilkes Record, N.C. Highway Patrol Master Trooper Christopher M. Casey reported:
“On Friday, March 28, at around 5:40 p.m., the N.C. State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal incident in Alexander County on N.C. 16 at Millersville Road. A 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle heading south on N.C. 16 attempted to turn left onto Millersville Road and veered in front of a northbound 2007 Audi A4.”
Casey continued, “The rider of the Harley Davidson, Samuel Jarrett Killian, 35, from Taylorsville, was ejected from the motorcycle and unfortunately did not survive due to his injuries at the scene. A passenger on the motorcycle was also ejected and was airlifted to a local hospital in critical condition.”
According to Casey, the driver of the Audi, Lane Neal Tevepaugh, 18, from Taylorsville, remained unharmed.
“Preliminary findings do not suggest that impairment or excessive speed were contributing factors. During the investigation at the scene, the road was closed for approximately two hours,” Casey noted, adding, “No charges will be filed in connection with this incident.”
