HAMILTON CITY, Calif. – A motorcyclist lost his life following a collision between a car and a motorcycle on Sunday evening, according to the CHP.
At approximately 6:35 p.m., a 2022 Tesla was heading west on Highway 32, nearing Sacramento Avenue. According to the CHP, the Tesla entered the left turn lane to turn south onto Sacramento Ave.
Simultaneously, a 43-year-old man from Forest Ranch was riding a 2022 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on Highway 32, also approaching Sacramento Ave. The CHP reported that as the Harley Davidson approached, the Tesla, driven by a 40-year-old man from Hamilton City, initiated a left turn.
The CHP indicated that the Tesla driver failed to notice the motorcycle during the turn, leading to the motorcycle colliding with the left front of the Tesla. Both the Tesla and the motorcycle continued traveling east before hitting a stop sign.
The impact ejected the motorcyclist, who sustained fatal injuries, as stated by the CHP.
The driver of the Tesla stopped and remained at the scene. The CHP noted that there were no indications of drugs or alcohol being involved at this time.
