Possible Harley-Davidson Cyberattack May Affect Over 60,000 Motorcyclists – Drag Bike News

Cybercriminals have reportedly targeted Harley-Davidson during the Christmas season, with RedHotCyber (RHC) indicating that over 66,000 customer records might have been exposed.

The attack is reportedly linked to the 888 group, which is said to have shared a sample of the compromised data on an online forum. According to RHC, the data sample reveals customer information that could only have been obtained from the company’s internal IT systems or from a third-party vendor.

The 888 group, which is rumored to be behind the breach, is notorious in the cybersecurity realm and has connections to several significant data breaches in the past. In September 2024, they were implicated in a breach involving Oracle, which compromised sensitive information of over 4,000 employees. Additionally, they were associated with a hack that leaked contact information of 33,000 current and former employees of Accenture.

While both of those previous incidents involved employee data, the breach at Harley-Davidson carries heightened significance, primarily due to the nature of the information compromised, which pertains to customers rather than employees, and the scale of the breach.

The specific details of the compromised data have not yet been disclosed. In fact, Harley-Davidson has not confirmed that the data theft has occurred. However, RHC suggests that such an attack could reveal names, addresses, and possibly details related to the customers’ motorcycle purchases. This is particularly concerning as Harley-Davidson operates not just as a motorcycle and apparel manufacturer, but also provides financial services, meaning customers’ sensitive financial information could also be at risk.

The breach may also lead to financial consequences for Harley-Davidson if they are found to have violated data protection regulations.

Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club Gifts New Harley Davidson to Member | State News

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — On Sunday morning, a law enforcement motorcycle club delighted one of its members by presenting him with a new Harley Davidson.

The recipient, who also serves as a pastor at a church in Bartlesville, had been without a motorcycle for several years yet always attends all the club’s gatherings.

The club members expressed that the pastor is truly one of a kind.

It was a thrilling moment for Brian Schexnayder when his motorcycle community, the Regulators, surprised him with a 2006 Harley Davidson Law Enforcement Edition bike.

“Every time we went out, Bryan couldn’t join us because his bike was always breaking down. So, as a club, we decided it was time to do something for him since he does so much for us,” commented Herb Cline, Vice President of The Regulators.

Cline noted that Schexnayderhas been a dedicated member for many years, but his motorcycle’s frequent breakdowns left him unable to ride.

“It’s hard to claim to be a motorcycle rider when you don’t have a bike to ride, which makes it a bit odd,” said Schexnayder.

This gesture was heavy with significance.

Approximately a decade ago, Schexnayder stepped into the role of chaplain for various law enforcement teams, becoming a vital part of their support system.

“Whenever an officer goes through a tough situation, he is always available to lend an ear and will check in to see how we’re doing,” said Cline. “I recently had an incident and hadn’t even mentioned it, but he found out and reached out to my officer and asked, ‘are you okay?’ He truly cares.”

Washington County Sheriff Scott Owen remarked that the gift is much more than just a motorcycle.

“This is simply a way to express our gratitude, Brian, and to say ‘thank you for being our rock in times of need, we can’t imagine how we would manage without you,'” Owen stated.

The Regulators successfully raised $6,000 with assistance from the Bartlesville Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Osage County Sheriff’s Office, and Crossroads Baptist Church in Bartlesville, where Schexnayder serves as pastor.

The initial asking price was set at $7,700, but when the seller learned about Schexnayder’s background, he reduced the cost.

Dennis and Suzanne Kachelmyer, who have owned the motorcycle shop for many years, broke the news of the closure in a Facebook post on Monday.

Customers expressed their disappointment and frustration regarding the announcement in the comments section of the post.

“This is unfortunate news for the biker community,” remarked one Facebook user.

“Wishing the best for all the employees affected by this. I hope someone steps in to purchase this business for us riders.”

“We have no other convenient option for our bikes.”

Another commenter expressed, “What? This is devastating news, I’m saddened to hear this. I reside in International Falls and this was my nearest dealership.”

“Really heartbreaking news, I was just about to plan some maintenance before next year’s riding season,” a third user shared.

The owners mentioned in the comments that they are in the process of selling their remaining inventory.

While standard business operations have concluded, they are working through existing service orders and remaining stock, including motorcycles.

They have confirmed that regular business activities have already ceased, with an ongoing wind-down of their current operations, including service work orders and leftover inventory, including motorcycles.

The exact date for the store’s closure remains uncertain.

Customers holding gift cards for the center can either request a refund or use them to purchase existing merchandise.

The owners expressed that sharing years of passion for riding has been a true privilege.

“Our love for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, the community, and the experiences has provided us with countless moments of joy and excitement, doing what we cherish every day!” the Kachelmyers shared.

Harley-Davidson Closures in 2024

Currently, there are over 650 Harley-Davidson dealerships across the United States.

Unfortunately, several stores have closed for various reasons throughout 2024, with minimal explanations provided.

Here’s a recap of some Harley-Davidson locations that have shut down this year and the reasons behind their closures:

The San Francisco location closed in June after 110 years due to ‘chaos’ from new management.

Miracle City Harley-Davidson in Titusville, Florida, closed in September, with no justification offered.

Harley-Davidson’s flagship location in New York City ceased operations on September 28, with the owner citing economic challenges.

Reiman’s Harley-Davidson dealership in Kewanee, Illinois, shut its doors in October after the owners sold the establishment to the Walter Brothers Harley Davidson dealership in Peoria, Illinois.

Additionally, the dealership in West Bend, Wisconsin, is temporarily closing for the season from November 2 until April 1, 2024.

“It deeply saddens us to confront these difficult economic times, leading to the hard decision to close our doors and wind down the operations.”

“To our Harley-Davidson family, we are grateful for this lifelong journey!” the owners expressed.

“Keep riding and enjoying; we look forward to crossing paths with you on the road!”

The store has not yet responded to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.

As the Kachelmyers step away from their venture, another motorcycle family is set to expand its operations.

Carolina Coast Harley-Davidson in Wilmington, North Carolina, and Beach House Harley-Davidson in Shallotte, North Carolina, are changing ownership after over three decades under the management of Rick and Janice Noyes.

The two dealerships are being taken over by Charlie Cole, Will Cole, and Freddy Tedesco of the Cole Family of Harley-Davidson Dealerships.

Thousands of Harley Riders Bring Holiday Cheer with Toy Donations at Children’s Hospital Colorado | Denver Metro News

Occasionally, Santa Claus requires the help of his motorcycle crew to deliver festive joy.

This year, the joyful occasion took place early at Children’s Hospital Colorado located at Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, where thousands of Harley-Davidson enthusiasts flocked in, donating countless toys throughout Sunday morning and early afternoon.

Hospital officials reported that between 1,500 and 2,000 motorcycle riders participated in the 39th annual Harley Toy Run, organized by Mile High Harley.

No rider on two wheels arrived empty-handed; even local first responders contributed bags of toys.

The toys will be utilized by patients through the hospital’s child life specialist team program across the Children’s Hospital Colorado network.

“Watching the smiles on the children’s faces as they line up is just amazing,” expressed Janet Cook, a Harley-Davidson rider, organizer, and CEO of Big Iron Sports, which owns Mile High Harley.

“Giving back to the community, especially to children who are in need or ill, feels incredibly rewarding—especially around Christmas and the holiday season.”

Numerous families, children, and even a Captain America stood outside as thousands of motorcycle riders, toys on their bikes, waved to the crowd while the children waved back from the hospital windows.

“Often, Harley riders and bikers get a bad reputation,” Cook remarked. “However, the riders here are incredibly generous. They deeply value their community and their shared passion for riding. This is a brotherhood—we collectively aim to do good for our community.”

Leeta Davis, a Harley-Davidson rider who contributed two sets of toys and action figures, shared that participating in the toy drive felt significant, calling it “the best of the best.”

Bob Cuculich, a fellow rider and organizer, mentioned, “The entire motorcycle community rallies for this cause.

“We appreciate what the children’s hospital does for our kids; they perform miracles here daily,” he expressed.

Each rider brings at least one toy, but many contribute more, often arriving with bags brimming with toys, according to Blayke Roznowski, a spokesperson for Children’s Hospital Colorado.

“This extraordinarily generous donation will supply thousands of toys to the patients at Children’s Colorado across all campuses throughout the year,” she conveyed.

“We are immensely thankful.”

The toys will be distributed among a network of volunteers alongside child life specialists within the hospital system. The substantial number of toys donated on Sunday is expected to last until at least mid-next year, Roznowski noted.

Centenarian Dorothy “Dot” Frances Brazier, born Earley, led a fulfilling life during her 103 years. She was born in Dunedin on September 8, 1921, and left school at 13 to work for the confectionery company McIntosh Caley Phoenix, before transitioning to Cadbury Fry Hudson. There, she packed hand-wrapped chocolates and led the Cadbury marching team, which is where she caught the attention of her future husband, Bill Brazier; the two married in 1942. Mrs. Brazier later joined Wolfenden and Russell clothing store, and during World War II, she made soldier uniforms at Sargoods. Post-war, the couple settled in Nightcaps, where Bill worked as a miner, and they operated a mine in Coaldale, in addition to running a milk delivery service. In 1954, they established Brazier Motors, with Mrs. Brazier taking charge of the school bus route. She not only transported three generations of children but also ferried miners to their jobs and organized bus charters before retiring in 1979 to Alexandra. In 1986, Mr. Brazier passed away, prompting Mrs. Brazier to move to Dunedin. She had a passion for golf and was actively involved in Lions. The couple had three children: Gaynor, Lance, and Royce. After suffering a heart attack in 2015, Mrs. Brazier relocated to Auckland to be nearer to Gaynor. She passed away on October 23, and is survived by her children, 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. — ODT

The Chautauqua-Kinzua Harley Owners Group (C-K HOG), which is based at Jamestown Harley Davidson, recently made a generous contribution to the Chautauqua County Little Free Project. This donation included a variety of non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, and other essentials for their pantry, as well as a significant number of toys for their Christmas program, all aimed at assisting local individuals and families in need.

The Little Free Project was initiated in 2020, during the early days of the pandemic, by Beth Anderson and her children, Lily and Richard III Speadling, who were seeking ways to support their community. Initially starting with one pantry filled with donated goods, the initiative has now expanded to include 40 pantries in the surrounding area. Although the pantries may be small, they symbolize hope for those who utilize them. C-K HOG has been a strong supporter of the family’s ongoing efforts to aid the community, frequently donating throughout the year and collecting toys at each meeting for Christmas donations.

For those interested in contributing to the welfare of those less fortunate in our area, the Chautauqua County Little Free Project maintains a Facebook page.
