Robin Phillips – Album Launch: “Return From The Source”

In 2019, the talented singer, pianist, bandleader, presenter, producer, and educator Robin Phillips embarked on an unforgettable road trip aboard a Harley Davidson motorcycle. His aim was to “retrace the footsteps of jazz and blues across America, from Chicago to New Orleans.” This journey was more than just an adventure; it was a unique opportunity to deepen his understanding of the art form that has shaped his life.

A documentary film entitled “Back to the Source” chronicling this tour has received several accolades. Additionally, a new album inspired by the journey, titled “Return From The Source,” was premiered on Wednesday, March 26, at Pizza Express Holborn.

The tracks on the album exhibit a rich melodic quality, which cellist and backing vocalist Natalie Rozario conveyed with great effectiveness and joy.

In a previous interview, Robin Phillips mentioned: “I suppose I have a lot of energy generally, especially when performing.” This is undoubtedly accurate. His dynamic presence as a project leader is notable, and his boundless energy was palpable throughout Wednesday’s performance. Matt Pannell’s photograph captures Robin and his eight-piece ensemble (full lineup below) receiving well-earned applause from a nearly full house. His dedication over the years is impressive.

The album’s most frequently played track is “Brother.” Robin does have an older brother, and the gratitude conveyed in the first verse reflects his sincere feelings:

“I couldn’t be who I am, without the times you saw me through”

In the second verse, he reflects on a woman in a developing country facing hardship; the third verse addresses his mother, and the fourth conveys anger towards the exploitative behavior of the already affluent.

Phoenix Business Provides Frustrating Runaround, Fails to Return Vintage Golf Cart Parts

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ — A man from Prescott Valley aimed to do something special for his wife: restore a vintage golf cart.

However, he ran into a snag when a Phoenix tire and wheel shop consistently gave him the runaround, prompting the Let ABC15 Know/Better Business Bureau volunteer team to intervene.

Don and his wife had embarked on a project to refurbish a golf cart together.

“My wife purchased this 1968 Harley Davidson golf cart in March 2023,” Don shared.

His initial plan involved having the chrome parts of the cart re-chromed. “This is vintage chrome that you can’t just go buy,” he added.

He found a Phoenix tire and wheel shop that agreed to handle the re-chroming. “The shop owner promised to finish the job within two weeks,” Don noted.

That was back in August 2023, but those two weeks stretched into months. “I kept asking when my parts would be ready, and he kept saying, ‘soon,’” Don recounted.

For months, Don received neither his re-chromed parts nor clear answers from the business owner. “I need them now because I’m ready to get this project rolling,” he stated.

By August 2024, Don was still persistently reaching out to the business owner for what rightfully belonged to him. Tragically, he now had to continue the project alone, as his wife had passed away just a month prior.

“My wife passed away in August and never got to see the golf cart refurbished,” he reflected.

Finally, in January 2025, Don contacted Let ABC15 Know for assistance, and volunteer Andrew stepped up. “Andrew was fantastic; he kept in touch with me throughout the process,” Don praised.

Andrew successfully mediated the situation, enabling Don to recover his chrome parts and take them to another shop to complete the restoration.

Problem resolved!

“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Andrew for taking on this case; it was truly a blessing!” Don expressed.

Although Don was referred to the business by someone he trusted, he has learned the importance of checking online and BBB reviews.

Despite his gratitude for retrieving the chrome parts, he remains disappointed at the delayed service and is heartbroken that his wife never got to see the finished cart.

“I just wanted to do something special for her, especially after she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer,” Don said, becoming emotional.

Determined to complete the golf cart, Don vowed to inform ABC15 when it’s finished.
