The Most Comfortable Motorcycles to Buy, According to Riders

Whether you’re embarking on a short ride or a lengthy journey, having a comfortable motorcycle is essential. After all, no one wants to endure back pain or stiff legs even after a brief ride.

A motorcycle designed for comfort features a soft, supportive seat, a relaxed riding posture, and smooth suspension to absorb road imperfections. Wind protection is crucial as well, and a good windshield along with fairings can significantly reduce fatigue caused by wind. Some bikes even offer heated seats, cruise control, and adjustable handlebars to enhance the enjoyment of long journeys.

Keeping that in mind, we have curated a list of the most comfortable motorcycles available today. Importantly, this selection is based not only on specifications but also on feedback from actual riders. These motorcycles are celebrated by their owners for their smooth rides, features, easy handling, and all-day comfort.

2019 Honda Gold Wing GL1800

For long-distance touring, comfort is of utmost importance. The 2019 Honda Gold Wing GL1800 excels in this aspect, offering one of the smoothest and most enjoyable rides on the market. Riders who have spent hours on this bike frequently commend its ergonomics, seat quality, and suspension — contributing to its status as one of the most successful Honda motorcycles in history.

One of the standout features of the Gold Wing is its exceptional seat. Plush and well-padded, it is perfectly shaped for long rides. A review from Motorcycle Paradise mentions that riders can comfortably spend two to three hours on the bike without needing a break, highlighting its overall comfort. The addition of a backrest further enhances the experience by providing additional lumbar support.

A notable aspect that distinguishes the Gold Wing from other touring motorcycles is its mid-mount foot controls. Initially, the reviewer from Motorcycle Paradise found them somewhat unusual, but they adapted quickly. This position facilitates a relaxed leg posture, ensuring a smooth journey. The review also noted that highway pegs felt unnecessary, as the natural leg positioning provided adequate comfort.

The handlebars are well-positioned, alleviating strain on the arms and shoulders. Motorcycle Paradise noted that they needed to adjust the handlebars on a similarly equipped Yamaha FJR1300 for a better fit, yet everything felt natural from the start on the Gold Wing. This is one of the reasons why Honda ranks among the top motorcycle brands.

2010 Victory Vision 8-Ball

The 2010 Victory Vision 8-Ball is purpose-built for riders who crave long-haul comfort without compromising on cruiser aesthetics. With a low seat height of 24.5 inches, it ranks among the most accessible touring bikes, allowing riders to easily touch the ground. Additionally, the two-tiered saddle provides built-in lower back support, easing the burden on the spine during extended rides.

For passengers, the elevated seat, dedicated floorboards, and grab rails deliver an exceptionally comfortable experience, with one reviewer from Motorcycle.com humorously wishing their office chair offered the same level of comfort. Furthermore, the air-shock and coil spring rear suspension efficiently absorbs bumps, guaranteeing a smooth ride. Reports indicate some riders have managed to cover over 1,500 miles in a single day on this bike.

The Vision 8-Ball also shines in terms of stability and handling. Unlike traditional cruisers, it features a sportier lean angle, keeping it steady in corners and stable on highways. The full fairing design enhances wind protection, and although this model does not come with an electrically adjustable windscreen, it is prewired for an upgrade. With a six-gallon fuel tank and a fuel economy of 38 mpg, riders can comfortably cover 200 miles per tank.

BKW K 1600 GTL 2024

The BMW K 1600 GTL is engineered for long-distance comfort, accommodating both solo riders and passengers. As BMW’s flagship luxury touring model, it features a plush seat, ergonomic design, and a range of comfort-focused amenities that ensure a pleasurable riding experience. BMW is well-regarded for having some of the best motorcycle technology.

BMW has achieved an ideal riding position on the K 1600 GTL. The neutral posture, wide footpegs, and appropriately placed handlebars ensure no excessive hunching or stretching. With a seat height of 29 inches, slow-speed maneuvering is more manageable, though taller riders might prefer the Grand America variant for its increased legroom with forward-mounted floorboards.

Passengers often bear the brunt of discomfort on motorcycles, but that’s not the case with the BMW K 1600 GTL. The expansive, well-cushioned backrest and wide seat guarantee comfort on long journeys. A reviewer on Bike Sales noted that while his son typically dislikes pillion seats, the secure and cushioned seating made a significant difference in comfort.

A significant advantage of the K 1600 GTL is its adjustable electric windscreen, which can be modified while riding. This feature creates a calm air bubble around the rider, reducing fatigue and improving the clarity of Bluetooth audio. Additionally, the Dynamic Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) automatically adapts the suspension based on load, maintaining a smooth ride whether carrying a passenger or riding solo with full luggage.

2023 Indian Challenger

Built for long-distance journeys, the Indian Challenger is equipped with an impressive PowerPlus engine, offering smooth handling and a design that ensures rider comfort for hours. If you’re looking for a bike that can effortlessly handle highways, this should be on your shortlist.

Weighing in at 831 pounds, the Challenger is solidly constructed for stability at high speeds. Its chassis-mounted fairing and adjustable windscreen effectively shield against wind, preventing fatigue from wrestling with it. The robust 1,768cc V-twin engine produces 122 horsepower and 128 ft-lbs of torque, allowing for easy overtaking with just a twist of the throttle.

The generous footboards allow for ample leg movement, relieving stiffness during long stretches. The gunfighter seat provides excellent support for the back and keeps the rider securely positioned, making longer rides much more pleasant. With a seat height of 26.5 inches, balance and control are enhanced. For brief stretches, riders can slide back slightly for relief. These attributes contributed to Steve Mazzucchi from Gear Patrol feeling comfortable throughout his ride.

Indian not only prioritized the rider’s comfort but also ensured the passenger seat is equally well-padded, providing a comfortable experience for two-up touring. The bike’s low center of gravity and smooth power delivery means the passenger experiences less jostle, remaining secure and comfortable even on bumpier roads.

2023 Suzuki V-Strom 800DE

The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is a versatile adventure bike that prioritizes comfort both on and off the road. Featuring a smooth engine, stable chassis, and plush suspension, this model is ideal for riders looking to explore without sacrificing comfort.

A notable strength of the V-Strom 800DE is its comfortable seat and thoughtful ergonomics. Designed for extended hours of riding, the seat offers enough space for shifting positions, making long journeys more manageable — a sentiment echoed by Ryan Adams from Motorcycle.com. The upright riding position and broad handlebars help mitigate strain, while the narrow midsection enhances grip with the legs.

The 776cc parallel-twin engine delivers smooth, robust power, making highway riding feel effortless. Stability is prominent even at high speeds, characterized by minimal vibrations due to dual balance shafts. Riders can choose among three engine modes tailored to various conditions, and the adjustable traction control system includes a Gravel mode for improved control on unpaved tracks.

2024 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT

The Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ is a sport-touring bike uniting long-distance comfort with exhilarating performance. With its smooth inline-triple engine, advanced electronics, and ergonomic design, this motorcycle caters to riders seeking both power and practicality on the road. Florian Neuhauser from RoadRunner reviewed the 2024 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ and emphasized its sporty yet comfortable ride.

Yamaha carefully considered the Tracer 9 GT+’s comfort for all-day riding. Its well-padded seat ensures support and a comfortable experience even after two hours in the saddle. The bike also comes with two height options, and for those who ride in colder conditions, a heated seat is available as an optional accessory. Furthermore, the upright riding position, wide handlebars, and ample ergonomics contribute to comfort over long distances.

Another standout feature is the semi-active KYB suspension, allowing riders to select between A-1 (Sport mode) and A-2 (Comfort mode), with A-2 being particularly suitable for rougher terrains.

Under the hood, the Yamaha 890cc CP3 triple engine generates 108 horsepower with smooth throttle response. The lightweight design facilitates easy handling in curves, and the electronic suspension maintains ride stability. An adjustable windscreen reduces wind buffeting, enhancing overall ride comfort.

Kawasaki Concours 14 ABS

Despite its older design, the Kawasaki Concours 14 ABS continues to deliver impressive comfort and performance for long-distance riders and their passengers. Its powerful engine, upright riding position, and adjustable wind protection make it an excellent choice for sport-touring.

The seat, even without the optional touring upgrade, is well-cushioned and comfortable. Although the seat height is 32.1 inches, it’s designed to be narrower in the front for easy ground accessibility, making it suitable for shorter riders. The handlebars are positioned to facilitate a relaxed riding stance, lessening fatigue on extended trips. In short, there’s no need to worry about tired shoulders.

Additionally, the electric windscreen and adjustable vent work together to minimize wind buffeting, allowing riders to find the ideal airflow for comfort, while heated grips provide warmth for chilly rides. Moreover, the side cases offer ample storage space, are easily removable, and simplify trip packing.

Mark Vaughn from Autoweek reviewed the 2024 Kawasaki Concours 14 ABS, expressing his admiration for its capability in handling long highway rides. Having traveled nearly 1,000 miles in two days, he found the seat more comfortable than that of the Yamaha FJR1300.

2024 Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide

The Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide is a powerful and stylish bagger engineered for long-distance comfort, providing a notably smoother ride than its predecessor. With a formidable Milwaukee-Eight VVT 121 engine and high-quality design, it’s crafted to turn heads while ensuring a comfortable experience on every ride.

This motorcycle’s high handlebars and relaxed seating position allow for prolonged riding without fatigue, a sentiment echoed by James Oxley, who reviewed it for Adventure Bike Rider. The wide fairing effectively blocks wind, ensuring a pleasurable experience on the highways. Ample storage in the large saddlebags allows for sufficient gear packing for extended trips.

Although it’s a hefty bike, it maneuvers well. While it’s not suited for swift turns or tight spaces, it remains stable and controlled even through winding roads. At the heart of the CVO Road Glide is the Milwaukee-Eight VVT 121 engine, generating ample power that makes highway cruising a breeze. Just a twist of the throttle enables smooth acceleration.

2023 BMW R 1250 RT

The BMW R 1250 RT is a sport-touring motorcycle that balances power, comfort, and technology into an expertly crafted package. With a 1,254cc boxer twin engine producing 136 horsepower and 105 lb-ft of torque, it offers rapid acceleration and robust power ideal for highway cruising or overtaking vehicles. Thanks to BMW’s ShiftCam technology, the engine adapts to provide smooth power during low-speed conditions and an extra boost when needed.

Paul Dail from Rider Magazine took the 2023 BMW R 1250 RT on a 900-mile journey and described it as one of the most comfortable sport-touring bikes he has experienced. He lauded its plush seat, smooth suspension, and outstanding wind protection. Another review from RoadRunner characterized the R 1250 RT as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing,” suggesting it appears to be a tourer while performing like a sportbike.

Despite its hefty weight of 615 lbs, the R 1250 RT is easy to handle, especially at higher speeds. The specially designed front suspension keeps the bike stable during braking, and the rear suspension minimizes bumps on rough roads. The motorcycle also features a 10.25-inch color display equipped with navigation, Bluetooth, and ride data functions. Additionally, Adaptive Cruise Control automatically adjusts speed based on traffic, while the adjustable windshield enhances wind protection.

2023 Kawasaki Vulcan Vaquero

The Kawasaki Vulcan Vaquero is a chic bagger-style cruiser featuring a fixed fairing, small windshield, and integrated saddlebags for a sleek appearance. Its 1,700cc V-twin engine produces around 80 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque at low RPMs. The six-speed transmission includes two overdrive gears, resulting in a smooth highway experience.

With a seat height of 28.7 inches, it is accessible for most riders. PowerSports Wheels and Deals reviewed the 2023 Kawasaki Vulcan Vaquero and praised its blend of classic cruiser charm and modern comfort. The wide, cushioned seat and relaxed riding position make it well-suited for long journeys. Although it weighs 840 lbs, KnuckleHQ noted that its weight necessitates careful handling at low speeds. Once in motion, however, it feels stable and easy to control.

The motorcycle is also equipped with analog-style gauges, an LCD display, a 20-liter fuel tank, a radio, and lockable storage compartments, while factory cruise control enhances convenience for long-distance journeys.

Trump’s Tariffs May Impact Indian Markets, But These Goods Will See Price Drops: iPhones and Harley Davidson Bikes Priced At Rs…

US President Donald Trump has been alerted that reciprocal tariffs will be placed on Indian goods, indicating that the US will match the import duties imposed by India on American products.

Trump’s Tariffs May Impact Indian Markets, But These Goods Will See Price Drops: iPhones and Harley Davidson Bikes Priced At Rs…
(File)

Trump Tariffs: US President Donald Trump has unveiled reciprocal tariffs on imports from various nations, including India, effectively initiating a tariff dispute that could alter global trade dynamics. Trump’s tariffs, set to take effect from April 2, are poised to impact Indian markets adversely, yet American products such as iPhones, Harley Davidson motorcycles, and laptops may become more affordable, offering Indian consumers access to high-quality goods.

Why will American-made goods become more affordable?

Donald Trump has been warned that the US will implement reciprocal tariffs on Indian products, meaning that the US will levy the same import duties on Indian goods as India has placed on American imports. Presently, India applies up to 110% import duties on American products, and Trump is urging New Delhi to significantly reduce these ‘excessive’ tariffs, thus allowing US products to better compete with local offerings as they will be priced more attractively.

Which products will see price reductions?

Should India and the US finalize a new trade agreement, India might lower import duties on American items including electronic devices, steel, engines, tires, spare parts, medical supplies, and several food products such as almonds, walnuts, and wine. This could result in popular gadgets like Apple iPhones, laptops, and smartwatches, along with vehicle parts and health-related products, becoming less expensive in India.

Furthermore, high-end motorcycles like Harley Davidson will also become more affordable, given that India currently imposes a 100% import tariff on American automotive brands. In the electronics sector, products from renowned US tech companies like Apple, Dell, and Hewlett-Packard could see a price drop.

The cost of dairy items like cheese and butter may also decrease, offering relief to consumers.

What impact could tariff reductions have on Indian industries?

While lower tariffs on American goods will make them more affordable, increasing their uptake in the Indian market, this new trade policy will also profoundly affect India’s domestic products, which will now face competition from international brands.

Experts suggest that American brands may dominate the electronics market, while Indian car manufacturers might experience financial setbacks if tariffs on auto parts are reduced. Additionally, India’s pharmaceutical and dairy sectors might encounter challenges. However, if the central government strikes an equilibrium, it could protect local businesses from losses while benefiting consumers.

If auto parts become less expensive, Indian automotive manufacturing firms could face financial difficulties. The pressure on the pharmaceutical sector and the dairy industry will also rise. Nevertheless, if the government finds the right balance, it could benefit Indian consumers while simultaneously safeguarding local industries from setbacks.

Herfoss Secures Fifth Place in Opening Daytona KOTB Qualifying

Kyle Wyman secures pole position for Harley-Davidson, with rookie Loris Baz taking second on the grid

The 2025 Moto America season gets underway this weekend at Daytona International Speedway, as Troy Herfoss embarks on his title defense in the King of the Baggers class.

Herfoss, riding an Indian Challenger supported by S&S Cycle, placed fifth in the first qualifying session, trailing leader Kyle Wyman of Harley-Davidson by 1.126 seconds. Despite having limited practice time leading into the race weekend, rookie Loris Baz showed impressive form by qualifying in second. He was closely followed by James Rispoli on his Harley and Herfoss’ teammate, Tyler O’Hara. “It’s really exciting! I’ve always wanted to race here. In this first session, there’s so much to learn about the banking. We’re doing well in Q1, but we’re facing some tire issues,” Baz remarked, referencing the notable tire wear as the track conditions evolve. Additionally, riders contended with windy weather, leading many to spend extended time in the pits.

Earlier in the day, O’Hara led the opening practice session, with Herfoss following closely in second place. Loris Baz wasn’t the only newcomer, as fellow MotoGP veteran Bradley Smith made his debut, finishing tenth with a time that was three seconds off the pole, riding the Dynojet entry for Harley-Davidson.

This season, both Herfoss and O’Hara will reduce their commitments by stepping back from the Super Hooligans class to concentrate on the King of the Baggers competition.

As Supersport takes the spotlight at Daytona, Tyler Scott (Vision Wheel M4 Ecstar Suzuki) claimed provisional pole, surpassing defending Daytona champion Josh Herrin from Warhorse Ducati. Richie Escalante made his mark in third position on the second Vision Wheel Suzuki, while racing icons Peter Hickman (PHR Performance) and Michael Dunlop (Milwaukee Ducati) placed eleventh and fifteenth, respectively. Shane Lloyd-Maggs represents Australia, currently sitting in 22nd place on his privateer Yamaha.

More action is slated for tomorrow, with an additional qualifying session, a Challenge race, and the first championship race set to begin around 7 AM Australian time.

The Joplin dealership has been a staple for riders in southwest Missouri for many years.

“After proudly serving the SWMO Community and helping riders find their Freedom on the open road, we’ll close our doors for the final time on Monday, March 31st – Forever grateful for the memories and journeys shared,” the dealership stated.

This news was made public on Tuesday, March 4.

In order to reduce inventory, Hideout Harley-Davidson is offering substantial discounts on bikes and parts until the end of March.

The news has left many fans disheartened, with many considering the store’s contribution to the local community.

“Wow!! Never thought I’d see this happen,” expressed one surprised customer.

Another attributed the brand’s struggles to various factors: “Their target market has aged out. With interest rates being super high and the used Harley market being very plentiful, that spells disaster for discretionary products.”

Some speculated about the dealership’s inventory, with one asserting, “Downstream casino bought four of them and are going to give them away.”

Many expressed sorrow over the loss of a cherished gathering place.

“SO sad to hear that they are closing. Loved going there,” lamented one enthusiast.

Harley-Davidson riders point to glaring ‘oversight’ by brand after chain’s stock plummets & dealerships close for good

“Really sad. They were one of the few stores that helped bring the community together and put on events,” another fan remarked.

Riders who depended on the dealership for training were particularly disheartened.

“I’m more sad about the fact we’ll be losing the motorcycle safety driving class,” one commented.

Some pointed to competitive pressures and management issues as contributing factors.

“They couldn’t really compete with other dealerships that are within an hour or two away. They also got rid of most of the good employees and lost customers by doing that,” claimed a user.

Harley-Davidson closures in 2024

There are over 650 Harley-Davidson dealerships across America.

Nonetheless, numerous stores have closed for a variety of reasons throughout 2024 – some without providing an explanation.

Here’s a list of some Harley-Davidson locations that have shut down this year along with their reasons for closing:

The San Francisco location closed in June after 110 years due to ‘chaos’ stemming from new management.

Miracle City Harley-Davidson in Titusville, Florida, shut its doors in September with no explanation provided.

Harley-Davidson’s historic location in New York City closed on September 28, with the owner citing economic challenges.

Reiman’s Harley-Davidson dealership in Kewanee, Illinois, ceased operations in October after the owners sold the business to the Walter Brothers Harley Davidson dealership in Peoria, Illinois.

Additionally, the dealership in West Bend, Wisconsin, is temporarily closing for the season from November 2 until April 1, 2024.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON REVENUE SLUMPS

The dealership’s closure coincides with Harley-Davidson’s ongoing significant decline in sales and revenue.

Several Harley-Davidson dealerships across the US closed last year, including sites in New York City, San Francisco, and Titusville, Florida.

The company recorded a 60% dip in revenue and sold 53% fewer motorcycles in the last quarter of 2024 as opposed to 2023, according to News Atlas.

North America experienced a 13% drop in sales during the final three months of 2024.

The company attributes the decline to economic volatility and increased interest rates.

Harley shipped 148,862 motorcycles globally in 2024, a 17% reduction compared to the prior year.

As dealerships grapple with excessive inventory, Harley announced intentions to scale back shipments.

The company anticipates revenue will either remain flat or decrease by another 5% in 2025.

India Trade Agreement Crucial for Donald Trump’s Export Expansion Efforts

India Trade Agreement Crucial for Donald Trump’s Export Expansion Efforts

US President Donald Trump, right, speaks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a press briefing in the East Room of the White House, Washington, on February 13, 2025. (AP)

NEW DELHI: Establishing a bilateral trade agreement is essential not only for India but also for the US, as it aligns with Donald Trump’s aim to enhance production and exports from America. A comprehensive reduction in duties would allow manufacturers of automobiles, bourbon, and mobile devices to import products into India from the most competitive regions, likely including China or Southeast Asia, rather than relying on American factories.
Neither Harley Davidson, a brand cherished by American presidents, nor Tesla, led by Trump’s advisor Elon Musk, manufactures their vehicles domestically.
Harley imports its motorcycles from its manufacturing facilities in Thailand, while Tesla, which is preparing to enter the Indian market, is expected to export its electric vehicles from Germany after being advised not to source them from China.
Companies often prefer alternative manufacturing locations due to geographic advantages that reduce freight costs or enable economies of scale. Furthermore, some are leveraging India’s existing free trade agreements to bring in products with zero duty.
Despite the ongoing discussions, Harley only produces the 440cc model in India through a partnership with Hero Moto. “The company has a substantial production base in Thailand that it relies on to import motorcycles into India. Besides the 440cc model manufactured locally, larger models such as the Pan America, Nightster, Street Glide, and Fat Bob are brought in from Thailand,” stated an analyst with expertise in international trade.
“Even if India eliminates the duties on motorcycle imports from the US entirely, Harley will continue to find it advantageous to source from Thailand as the proximity reduces freight expenses and shortens shipping times,” another analyst noted.
A bilateral trade agreement, for which Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is currently in Washington, could offer tariff benefits for both India and the US, enabling factories and farmers in both countries to export directly.
The government has demonstrated its intent for lower tariffs by reducing duties on imported motorcycles and bourbon. Although this reduction applied to all imports, it was in response to Trump’s criticisms of India’s “high tariffs,” but did not result in substantial benefits for American factories.
Out of $2.6 million worth of bourbon whisky imports, only $780,000 originated directly from the US, with most products being sourced from other nations, some of which serve as bottling hubs.

Daytona 200 & King of the Baggers 2025: Request the Program!

This weekend, from March 6 to 8, 2025, the DAYTONA 200, the 83rd edition of America’s most renowned motorcycle race, will unfold. For over seventy years, this event has presented a challenge to the world’s greatest motorcycle racers, transitioning from the tough sands of Daytona Beach to the iconic “World Center of Racing”!

Among the categories featured this weekend by MotoAmerica, we will certainly keep an eye on the Daytona 200 competing alongside the Supersport, as well as this year’s Mission King of the Baggers. This is due in part to the recent signings of Loris Baz with Indian and Bradley Smith with Harley Davidson. Moreover, this exciting competition is just as intriguing as it is unconventional!

As a reminder, last year, Josh Herrin, riding a Ducati, triumphed in the Daytona 200, finishing with a 45-second lead, marking his third victory. The pole sitter, Tyler Scott (Suzuki), secured second place, followed by Hayden Gillim (Suzuki) in third, after Bobby Fong (Suzuki) faced disqualification due to an oversized fuel tank. The race was clouded by controversy surrounding Bobby Fong’s disqualification. Initially in second place, Richie Escalante (Suzuki) ended up fourth after running out of fuel on the final lap.

This year, the contentious sponsor of the triple winner appears to have disappointed him…

Another Project For Sons of Anarchy Fans

Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter is set to unveil a new Netflix project that fans will find intriguing. Set in the 1850s, it delves into the rivalries of various outlaw groups during the Old West era. The Abandons centers on Fiona Nolan (Game of Thrones‘ Lena Headey), a devoted Irish woman struggling with infertility who seeks to create a family by taking in four orphans.

She soon faces off against European aristocrats laying claim to her newly acquired home in Oregon. Some fans speculate that The Abandons could serve as a prequel to Sons of Anarchy, providing background on the origins of SAMCRO. The cast also includes Gillian Anderson, Lucas Till, Aisling Franciosi, Nick Robinson, Diana Silvers, and Lamar Johnson.
